UJUJUJU, is a timeless adventure story of the coming of age of Jujuju, the boy and young man born to a traditional Xhosa father and Mfengu mother in a small Eastern Cape village called Gcuwa. One day his mother flees the village with Jujuju and his siblings after an attempt is made on her life. The journey that unfolds sees Jujuju lost but determined to build a life that his family can be proud of, should he ever see them again.

The story was first published in 1938 in IsiXhosa and gives an extraordinary insight into tribal/clan life, the anguish of loss, and the power of forgiveness. This modern edition, one side English and the other side isiXhosa, brings to life a South African classic for a new generation of readers. Futshane was also the author of uJujuju noMhla ngenqaba, published by Lovedale Press in 1960.
