The Next 25 Years of South Africa’s Democracy
In the next 25 years I will be 43
I will be telling my children stories about those before me
Those that are Heroes that fought for democracy
Those that left an everlasting Legacy
In the next 25 years I see more change
Things like racism will be seen as strange
For we will live in a South Africa with a variety of racial range
Everybody will be united regardless of colour, regardless of age
In the next 25 years I don’t see black, I don’t see white
I just see a youth with smiles so bright
Because each of them have equal opportunities to set their dreams alight
And they know that for the next 25 years South Africa will continue to be alright
In the next 25 years we will remember people like Steve Biko
I will proudly tell neighbouring countries that in my country that iracism Ayikho!
Because we gladly welcome people Egypt to Puerto Rico
In South Africa it won’t matter if your name is John, Rajesh or Ziko
In the next 25 years South Africa will continue to strive
We will continue to keep Her rich history alive
She will be a place where people of every colour will be able to thrive
And dignity in Her, we shall revive
In the next 25 years and 25 more to come

” I don’t know where I would be without poetry. Poetry doesn’t judge me but it instead gives me a sense of comfort and I can express myself freely. That’s all I want to do. To be comfortable and to have the freedom of expressing myself freely without any restrictions!”
